This is the most recent image of the Northern Hemisphere; it is a
composite of the images taken by the GOES=8 and GOES-9 satellites operated by the US National Oceanographic
and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This image was taken in visible light, and doesn't show quite the detail of the infrared image.
These GIF images are about 150-200K in size.
